The race
taxi ride

No car of your own, no helmet, no experience needed: what to expect from a race taxi ride, which two Porsches you can choose between and who it suits. Written by the people who run these events.

The short answer

A race taxi ride is about riding along, not driving yourself. You sit in the passenger seat of a Porsche, an experienced driver takes the wheel and takes you on fast laps of the full circuit.

The race taxi runs at our own track day events, you add it right with your ticket. If you have ever wondered whether a ride like this is for you: here are the answers, without having to buy anything first.

No car of your ownYou do not drive yourself, the car and the driver are already there.
No helmet of your ownWe lend you a helmet at no cost, you just need a balaclava (your own or bought from us).
No experience neededYou sit alongside, not behind the wheel, no prior knowledge required.
Track day entry includedYou are there for the whole day, not just for the one ride.
Add it at any eventWhichever of our track day dates you pick, the race taxi is always on offer.

How your ride works

Three steps, no experience needed. All you do is get in.

1 · Helmet on and briefedAt the car you get your loan helmet, buckle up and get a short briefing in the pit. That is all the preparation there is.
2 · Out onto the trackThe driver takes you on fast laps of the full circuit. You feel the braking points, corner speed and acceleration from the passenger seat.
3 · Your video, on your phoneAn onboard camera and live lap time run for the whole ride. Shortly after, you get the finished, edited video on your phone, at no extra cost.

About the harness: The race taxi does have a six-point harness, but it may only be used if you bring your own HANS device. Otherwise you ride buckled up normally on the standard three-point belt.

The two cars, compared

Two Porsches run as our race taxis, different character, a pro behind the wheel either way.

992 GT3 RS

4.0-litre naturally aspirated engine, 525 hp, full race aero, the sharpest production 911 Porsche builds. From 249 € per person.

718 GT4 MR

Mid-engine, free-revving naturally aspirated, pin-sharp turn-in. Smaller, lighter and just as direct. From 149 € per person.

Either way, your entry to the track day is already included, no extra ticket needed. More photos, the real onboard video and direct booking are on the race taxi page.

What to wear and bring

You are the passenger, not the driver, so the preparation stays simple.

Flat, closed shoesTrainers or sturdy shoes work better in the car than sandals or heels.
BalaclavaGoes under the loan helmet. Bring your own or buy one directly from us at the track.
No helmet neededWe lend you a helmet free of charge, no need to bring your own.
No driving licence neededYou are not driving, so no licence is required for the ride.

On age or height: That depends on the car and the seat, so we do not set a blanket rule. Let us know shortly before booking who is riding, and we will sort it out directly with you. Get in touch

Who this is for

Three honest cases where the race taxi makes more sense than driving yourself:

As a gift. You book the ride for a fixed date and simply tell the person, nothing more to it. The race taxi is available at every one of our track day dates, so you are not tied to a single day of the year.

As a first taste of the circuit. Before you get into your own car, the race taxi lets you feel what braking points and corner speed are actually like on a real circuit. Many people book their own first driving day only afterwards, with a much clearer sense of what to expect.

To bring a partner or friends along. Anyone who does not want to drive is still right in the middle of it in the race taxi, instead of just standing at the fence, and even takes their own video of the ride home with them.

Race taxi or drive yourself?

The race taxi is not the only way to be there without a car of your own. A passenger and spectator ticket from 49 € gets you into the paddock all day, riding along with other participants instead of one fixed race taxi ride. And if you want to be behind the wheel yourself, that works with your own car or as an additional driver from 99 € on someone else's car.

Race taxi

No car of your own, no helmet, no experience needed. You sit next to a pro and get your video afterwards. The most direct way to feel real pace without driving yourself, from 149 €.

Drive yourself

You drive your own car all day in open pit and learn the circuit yourself, instead of just feeling what it is like. For that you need a mechanically sound car and a helmet, as a driver ticket from 749 €.

Many start with the race taxi and book their own driving day only afterwards. Everything on getting ready is in the guide Your first track day, all the costs in detail in the guide What does a track day cost.

Practical note: Race taxi seats are limited at every event. If you want to be sure of a spot, it is best to book early rather than waiting until the day itself.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Speed Factory race taxi?
A race taxi ride puts you in the passenger seat of a Porsche, driven by an experienced driver, on fast laps of the full circuit. You do not drive yourself, need no car of your own and no experience. It runs at our own track day events, and your entry to the track day is already included.
What actually happens during a race taxi ride?
At the car you get your loan helmet from us, buckle up and get a short briefing in the pit. Then it is out onto the track, where the driver takes you on fast laps of the full circuit. An onboard camera and live lap time run the whole time.
Which cars are used as race taxis?
Two Porsches: the 992 GT3 RS with a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated engine, 525 hp and full race aero, and the 718 Cayman GT4 MR with a mid-engine, free-revving naturally aspirated layout. A pro is at the wheel either way, you just pick the car.

Do I need my own helmet or car?
No, you need neither. You borrow a helmet from us free of charge, all you need for it is a balaclava: bring your own or buy one directly from us at the track. You ride in the organiser's car, not your own. Beyond that, just bring flat, closed shoes and comfortable clothing.
Do I get a video of my ride?
Yes, at no extra cost. An onboard camera and live lap time run throughout the ride, and shortly afterwards you get the finished, edited video straight to your phone.
Are there age or height restrictions for the race taxi?
We do not set a blanket rule, because it depends on the car and the seat. Get in touch with us shortly before booking and we will sort it out directly for you and the person riding.
Is a race taxi ride a good gift?
Yes. You book the ride for a fixed date and simply tell the person, nothing more to it. Especially for anyone who has never been on a circuit or does not want to drive themselves, a race taxi ride is an experience that sticks.
