Bilster Berg is not a race track in the usual sense. It was built as a test and presentation circuit and sits entirely in the forest, in the Teutoburg Forest near Bad Driburg. You notice from the first lap: it climbs and drops constantly, and many corner exits only reveal themselves once you are in them.

Its 4.2 kilometres hold 19 corners and 44 crests and compressions. The gradient drops by up to 26 percent and climbs by up to 21 percent, adding up to more than 200 metres of elevation change per lap. No section is like the next, which is why you learn more about your car here in one day than on three flat circuits.

Demanding does not mean inaccessible. Because instructors are part of the ticket and we run open pit, you can build up at your own pace. First time here? Do your opening laps with someone in the passenger seat who knows the place.

Open pit

Open lapping, no groups and no fixed sessions. With 20-minute windows it usually ends right when tyres and brakes are up to temperature. Here you simply stay out for as long as it is going well.

One price. No extras on the day.

What you need

Less than most people expect.
Driving licence: a valid licence, nothing more. No race licence needed.
Car: mechanically sound, from a standard road car to a race car. No race prep needed.
Helmet: mandatory for everyone in the car. Do not have one? Tell us and we will sort it.
Insurance: normal motor policies usually do not cover track days. Check before you book, specialist cover is available.

Frequently asked questions

Who is a track day at the Bilster Berg for?
For anyone with a driving licence and a technically sound car. No race prep needed, beginners are explicitly welcome. Instructors are there all day and included in the ticket.
What does open pit mean?
The pit lane is open all day. No groups, no fixed sessions: you go out when you want and stay out as long as you want. The difference shows over the day: with fixed 20 minute windows it usually ends right when tyres and brakes are up to temperature and you are in a rhythm. Here you simply stay out and can work on one corner until it clicks. The only limit is the traffic light when too many cars are on track at once.
How many cars are on track at once?
We sell 50 starting places, a maximum of 30 cars may be on track at the same time. In practice the light is almost always green, because never everyone is out at once.
Do I need a helmet?
Yes, for everyone in the car. If you do not have one, tell us in advance and we will sort it out.
Is my car insured on track?
Usually not under a normal motor policy, check before booking. Dedicated track day insurance exists. Damage to circuit installations is paid for by whoever caused it.
Can I run an unregistered car?
In principle yes. On track, participants are liable to each other. If your car has no valid third-party motor insurance, you need your own participant liability cover and show us the policy once.
What happens if it rains?
We run in any weather. Before the event you get access to our weather briefing with rain probability, track temperature and a tyre recommendation, updated hourly.
Can I cancel?
Date-bound events are excluded from the right of withdrawal, but we are flexible: up to 8 weeks before 75 percent as a voucher, up to 4 weeks 50 percent. Vouchers are valid 12 months and transferable.
Can two of us share one car?
Yes. An additional driver costs 99 €, you share the car, the day and the cost. One passenger is already included in the driver ticket.
